Adventure Monkey started on gravel roads in the Midwest.
It was never just about cycling.
It was about getting lost, finding something deeper, and feeling alive again
That hasn’t changed.
About me
I’m Eric Benjamin.
I’ve lived a few different versions of myself.
For a long time, I thought I was chasing something out there. Eventually, I realized it wasn’t about finding something new, it was about understanding what was already there.
I’ve been a teacher, graphic designer, car salesman, retail manager, photographer, nuclear chemist, media specialist, marketing coordinator, and now a Physician Assistant focused on helping people live healthier, longer lives. At one point, I stepped away from everything and lived out of an RV for about six months, figuring out what came next.
Each chapter taught me something different, but they all had one thing in common, I’ve always been searching for something deeper. For a long time, I thought that meant finding the right career, the right place, the right path. But over time, I realized it wasn’t something out there to be found. It was something you build, through experience, challenge, and the willingness to keep starting over when needed.
Adventure Monkey grew out of that mindset.
Long rides through the Midwest. Gravel roads stretching for miles. Races that tested more than fitness. Friends that were more like family. It became a way to slow down, pay attention, and experience things most people pass by.
Then life shifted, like it does.
I stepped away for a while and focused on building a new career in medicine, work that I’m proud of and that has real meaning. But the part of me that needed adventure never went away. Not the big, dramatic kind. Just the simple kind, being outside, moving forward, getting away from the day to day, doing something that feels real. That’s what this is about now.
Adventure Monkey isn’t a restart. It’s a continuation. A different chapter, with a clearer perspective.
I’m not chasing something anymore. I’m paying attention to what matters and following it. Because the truth is, without some form of adventure, the fire within us starts to fade. We get stuck. Disconnected. Less ourselves. Adventure doesn’t fix everything. But it brings something back. That’s what the Adventure Monkey and Feed Your Monkey is all about.
If that resonates with you, you’re in the right place.
